So here is the first post of 2017! I hope it is finding all of you healthy and eager to take on new and exciting projects!
I’ve seen a few friends post their new year resolutions and I figured it’s time to maybe formalize mine in a post as well. I can come back in a year and see how many of these things I have actually accomplished and how many are still to do.
Some of my friends have lofty goals for 2017, I think mine are rather pedestrian in comparison. Nevertheless here goes:
-
Build a product used by at least 1000 paying customers; This is already under way, started working on a small project a couple of months ago and since I quit my job at the end of 2016 I now have time to dedicate to this.
-
Execute on two other ideas and bring them to a prototype stage. Demo this to prospective customers and gather feedback to decide if it’s worth pursuing or shelf it and move to the next thing. This is very important to me as typically I build some stuff, learn what can be learned and never ever attempt to commercialize any of the things I build - just move on to the next interesting thing.
-
Spend more time with the kids - already doing this but I would like to add more structure and introduce them to some new things and activities. I’ve signed them both up for the gym and it will be really cool training together and sign up for various events around the city.
-
Race another IronMan - the Calgary 70.3 happens in July so there is still ample time to train and sign up. I will need a new wet suit - mine ripped at the end of last year surfing in Tofino. Maybe I should be looking for some closeouts instead of writing silly new year resolutions.
This is it folks, nothing too ambitions. Good luck to you with your new year resolutions! Next year I will see how many of these things I’ve knocked off and maybe, who knows, I’ll need to come up with loftier goals.
